The Lithuanian National Aviation Association (LAVIA) has re-elected Aleksandras Nemunaitis as Chairman of the Board for a second term. First elected on August 17, 2023, he will continue for another two years.

According to Nemunaitis, his priorities for the new term will remain much the same as before: to strengthen Lithuania’s aviation sector and ensure that the country fully leverages its potential to remain the industry’s regional leader.

“The aviation sector contributes nearly 3% to Lithuania’s GDP each year, and by 2030 this figure could reach as high as 5%. Every euro invested in aviation generates a return of three euros for the state. The industry creates around 15,000 jobs and contributes nearly €100 million annually in taxes. Aviation also plays a key role in shaping Lithuania’s image on the global stage. We will do everything possible to ensure this sector continues to deliver long-term value for our country,” said Nemunaitis.

To further strengthen aviation’s contribution to Lithuania’s economy, Nemunaitis highlights the importance of favorable tax policies, continued infrastructure development, and the training of skilled professionals. He remains committed to promoting the aviation sector and ensuring its strategic value is fully recognized by both policymakers and the general public.

Lithuanian aviation companies are already operating in over 25 countries worldwide. In 2024, they were featured in global media reports more than two million times, while the combined annual revenue of the country’s largest aviation companies reached €3.2 billion. Expanding international cooperation, promoting Lithuania as a business-friendly aviation hub, and implementing best global practices are among Nemunaitis’s other top priorities.

Founded 15 years ago, LAVIA has been actively shaping and supporting the growth of Lithuania’s aviation industry. The association works closely with government and educational institutions, promotes aviation digitalization, and unites a wide range of aviation businesses, from commercial air transport providers to manufacturers and service companies.
